Gaia Education Welcomes Newcomers
Although it is Winter here in the Northern Hemisphere, it is clear to say that the tree is far from bare... Gaia Education is blossoming with diversity, from the team and the projects we carry out, to the people we impact.
Gaia Education was proud to announce, last month, that individuals of 101 different nationalities from across the globe have now joined our courses, conducted online or face-to-face, in 43 countries... and are now working towards co-creating a thriving future.
As the reach of our courses extends yet further, so does that of our Project-Based Learning, with which we aim to further implement the Sustainable Development Goals and address the current challenges that our global society is faced with. In order to support this increasing maturation, the Gaia Education team has grown once again, welcoming new members both to the Board and to the Management team, bringing fresh knowledge, skills and strategies.
John Clausen joined the Board of Directors just this month. John is President of the Hygeia Foundation for Health Science and the Environment, which he founded in 1977 in the USA, supporting and sponsoring a variety of projects, particularly those that promote sustainable and holistic living. John has been dedicated to the exploration of the evolution of culture and consciousness since the late 1960s. His work is currently focused on community and ecovillage development, philanthropy, networking, investing and sustainability education. He is especially interested in healthy soil and sustainable food systems.
Sally joined the Management team in the Fall, as Head of Fundraising, to ensure the future flourishing of our projects. Prior to joining our team, Sally worked for many years as a Project Manager, with significant experience in developing new partnerships and projects over the last 10 years. Now focused solely on fundraising, her passion is supporting grassroots pioneers to get their projects off the ground and to render their work sustainable through securing funding and building their capacity in project cycle management.
This season we said a fond farewell to Milla Harju who has now returned to her homeland, leaving her place on the team to Virginia, as Marketing and Communications Coordinator. Virginia brings yet more diversity, as she is another multicultural, multilingual member, with a mastery of four globally influential languages. Born in England and educated in France, Virginia went on to receive a first class degree in Applied Foreign Languages: Spanish and Mandarin, from the Université de Montpellier. Her studies also include a year of Translation and Interpreting at the Universidad de Granada, Spain. Passionate and dedicated to the values of sustainable living, with a certificate in Computer and Internet Skills, Virginia now leads Gaia Education’s manifold communications activities.
