The impact and meaning of our Building Capacity and Empowering Communities project in Bangladesh is tangible.
Over the past three years, Gaia Education together with Bangladesh Association for Sustainable Development (BASD) and CIFAL Scotland have been working together to improve the challenging situation in the Khulna and Bagerhat areas of Southern Bangladesh.
The results of the project have been outstanding; the programmes, such as Permaculture Design and Design for Sustainable Settlements have successfully equipped the local communities with tools needed to maintain their livelihoods and work together with the environment to ensure sustainable development for the area.
Watch the moving and inspirational video report on the challenges and solutions the communities have faced and implemented over the past three years.
"This is a social movement by the people for the people. The Building Capacity and Empowering Communities project had tranformed the simple villages into instruments of change. They are now our proud volunteers who are creating ripple-effects in the community and bringing back confidence, self-respect and hope in the lives of thousands of hapless villages who are now capable to face the world."
Project funded by the Scottish Government.
