YCAN - Youth Climate Action Network

The YCAN – Youth Climate Action Network is a three-year Erasmus+ project (Dec 2025 – Nov 2028) led by Asociación Mundus in collaboration with partners across Spain, Belgium, France, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda, including Gaia Education Europe and ALDA, aimed at empowering youth organizations and young people in Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa to tackle climate change through non-formal education, international mobilities, and community-driven initiatives.

Recognizing the passion of global youth for climate advocacy yet their barriers, such as limited resources, knowledge, and networks. YCAN strengthens capacities via five work packages: management (WP1), climate awareness training and toolkit development (WP2), youth exchanges and participatory activities (WP3), youth-led local initiatives (WP4), and communication/community building (WP5), featuring the "Act Now for Tomorrow" campaign and YCAN Community Platform to foster cross-border collaboration, peer learning, and sustainable impact in local climate resilience.

The YCAN project targets diverse stakeholders with tailored benefits to maximize climate action impact: youth organizations gain staff training, innovative methodologies, direct youth engagement, and intercontinental networks to globalize their work. Youth workers access specialized training to overcome engagement barriers, adopt new tools, build peer connections, and amplify initiatives. Local youth develop civic skills, community knowledge, and a proactive climate mindset, empowering independent projects. NGOs strengthen capacities via the project toolkit for regional/international cooperation and partnerships. Local communities benefit from youth-led sustainable practices and heightened environmental engagement, while policy makers gain youth perspectives and recommendations to shape inclusive climate policies at national and regional levels.
