Gaia School’s 10th anniversary

In 2024 Gaia School celebrated its 10th anniversary – ten years of educational journey marked not just by the passage of time but by growth in knowledge and collaboration. It has been a path shaped not only by lessons taught but also by values lived – lessons that have touched students, teachers, and the wider community.

Throughout these years, the school has grown from a small primary initiative into a full-scale general education school. New classes, teachers, learning opportunities, and cooperative projects have been added. Outdoor education and project-based learning have become core elements, allowing students to connect what they learn with the world around them.

In 2025 the school teaches 250 learners from the ages on 7-18 and a team of 30 teachers are supporting the development of the students. One of the most important lessons learned at Gaia School is that every child has their own path and rhythm. Rather than trying to fit everyone into the same mould, the school has embraced diversity and personal growth. Families have an opportunity to combine stationary and homeschooling according to the needs of their lifestyle.

Education is not only about transferring knowledge, but about supporting the whole human being – emotionally, socially, and spiritually. At the heart of the school are Gaia education core values: care for people and the Earth, holistic development, connection with nature and community cooperation. Gaia education
believes that learning should nourish not only the mind but also the heart and body. The methodology on head-hands-heart is used in the learning process💚

Gaia values are not taught only as theory – they are embedded in everyday practices, relationships, and learning experiences. Lessons have gone far beyond classroom walls – students have learned in forests, gardens, museums, and within themselves. They’ve studied not only math and language, but also how to grow plants, hold meaningful discussions, express their emotions, and work together.

In these ten years, Gaia School has proudly sent off several graduating classes, with more than 70 students. These ten years have been about the courage to do things differently, to trust in children, and to trust in life itself.

But this is only the beginning. Ahead lie new ideas and new challenges. Gaia School will continue its journey and invites other Gaia school initiatives around the world to join us.
